Gilroy, CA – Old McDonalds Farms recently announced that they have developed a new technique for peeling garlic and plans to debut the product at the Garlic Festival held every year in June in Gilroy, California.
The Garlic Peeler is basically a flexible, plastic tube that is about 5 inches long and an inch in diameter. The garlic clove or cloves are placed, husk on, inside the tube. The tube is then placed on a hard surface such as a countertop, and then with downward pressure from the chef’s hand, rolled back a forth a few times and voilla! Out comes a completely naked clove of garlic. No muss; no fuss. The tube is dishwasher safe and comes in a wide variety of colors
Mr. McDonald, grower said, “We are thrilled to bring this invention to the attention of cooking enthusiasts around the world. People everywhere love garlic not only for its taste but for health reasons as well. Yet, many people just don’t want to deal with peeling it as a necessary part of preparation so they just shake some dried garlic onto their food. Fresh garlic is so much better tasting and better for youso now, in seconds, garlic cloves can be easily and quickly made ready to use. “
McDonald went on to say their marketing department is in discussion with several large, retail chains to make the implement widely available to the consumer.
